Lisa Lisa Cult Jam was an American band formed in 1984. The band consisted of lead vocalist Lisa Lisa (born Lisa Velez), keyboardist and backup vocalist Mike Hughes, and drummer Ray "Pinky" Velazquez. The band rose to fame in the mid-1980s with their hit singles such as "I Wonder If I Take You Home," "Head to Toe," and "Lost in Emotion."
Lisa Lisa Velez initially started off as a solo artist, but she later joined forces with Mike Hughes and Ray Velazquez to form the band Lisa Lisa Cult Jam. Velez's sultry vocals and the band's blend of R&B, pop, and funk made them stand out in a crowded music scene.
Mike Hughes was the keyboardist and producer for the group. He was responsible for crafting the group's sound, which included synthesizers, drum machines, and catchy hooks. Ray "Pinky" Velazquez was the drummer for the group and added a Latin flavor to many of their songs.
The trio released their debut album, "Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force," in 1985, which went on to become a commercial success. The band continued to release more albums throughout the 80s and early 90s before ultimately disbanding in 1994.
